The Most Avanced Microchip Identification System In the World

New advanced micro-electronic technology has enabled AVID to develop an exciting system, Labtrac, that provides precise, secure and permanent animal identification.

AVID utilizes its own unique, patented technique based on radio-wave communication to identify animals on demand. Traditionally, accurate laboratory animal identification has been difficult to achieve due to less efficient methods of identification used in the majority of laboratories throughout the world.

Old techniques such as ear-punching, tagging, toe clipping and tail tattooing are time consuming and stressful. Important, expensive long-term research projects can often be delayed or invalidated due to animal misidentification or the problems resulting from stress and infection.

With over eleven years of extensive research and development, AVID is proud to announce that Labtrac is now available, bringing new levels of precision and security to animal identification within your laboratory environment.

Unique Permanent Microchip Identification That Is So Easy To Use

The size of the microchip is comparable to a grain of rice (2mm x 13mm). Battery free and biologically inert, the identity tag is quickly and safely positioned with a standard injection procedure using a standard 3cc syringe.

When the unique animal identity is required, just pass the AVID identity tag reader over the animal. The animal's number is instantly displayed.

Join with the institutions using the ultimate in sophisticated animal identification systems.

The Benefits To Your Laboratory

The economical Labtrac system, preferred to traditional identification procedures, provides unequalled precision and cost efficiency.

The AVID identity tag reader is a hand held identification reader for AVID and other radio frequency identification tags. It generates a low-energy radio signal which energizes the identity tag into transmitting its unique number. The number is displayed on a liquid crystal display (LCD) in an easy to read format. The reading time is less than 40 milliseconds.

The AVID identity tag reader combines portability, versatility and optimum performance in a rugged, lightweight functional design. In addition, it can also transmit via a standard RS232 interface to a computer, supporting custom application, enabling your laboratory to identify animals with the utmost efficiency.

The Labtrac system will pay for itself in short order by allowing you to house animals together that are presently being caged separately to keep their unique identification. While saving per diem cage cost, the Labtrac system will preserve the integrity of expensive long-term research that would be invalidated due to animal misidentification.

Humane

The requirement of positive identification of laboratory animals needed in scientific research is real. Labtrac offers a humane choice over the painfully disfiguring alternatives such as toe clipping and ear punching.

A standard injection not only saves time and money, but causes the animal no more discomfort than an ordinary inoculation. Once the microchip is in place, the animal will not even be aware of its existence.

No Risks

Labtrac uses an implantable microelectronic device which is encapsulated within proven inert bio compatible glass. The tag is passive, with no power supply to replace or cause harm to animals. Each identity tag is manufactured and programmed under computer control to ensure against duplication of identification codes.

With over 70 trillion I.D. codes possible, no two animals would ever have the same number.

How It Works

Identity Tag

Encased within a bio-compatible glass capsule, the tag is preprogrammed with its own unique identification number. Battery-free and biologically inert, the tag will not influence animal health or its response to a study protocol.

Implanter

In order to implant the microchip, a modified Monoject syringe is used to facilitate the standard injection procedure.

Implantation Procedure

A standard aseptic injection conveniently positions the identity tag into the subcutaneous layer or the intramuscular site.

Permanet Identification

Using proper techniques, once implanted, the tag provides permanent and unalterable identification. Additionally, the microchip is ideally suited for long term storage identification of samples and tissue even if frozen or fixed.

Identity Tag Reader

Compact and lightweight, the identity tag reader is passed over the animal, generating a low energy signal which activates the tag into transmitting its own unique number. The received number is then displayed crisply on an LCD in an easy to read format. Reading time is less than 40 milliseconds.

The identity tag reader has manual, remote or computer controlled operational capability and is battery powered, using a 9 volt alkaline or 110/220 volt AC adapters.
Compact and Easy to Use

Simple to operate, the entire system weighs just under 500 grams making it easy and practical to use in any field or laboratory environment. The Labtrac system also comes with its own stylish carry-bag, making transportation and storage easy and convenient.

An Economical System and Valuable Investment

Th complete Labtrak system consisting of tags, tag reader and implanter is incredibly economical when you consider the long-term savings to be made over conventional identifications methods. It is a valuable investment for your laboratory, not only in the accuracy and success of your research, but in time, labor and space economy.

Warranty and Service

In the event of equipment failure AVID will repair or replace the equipment free of charge within twelve months, subject to the equipment not being misused or abused.
